Philosophy

Five things we believe.

Most installations describe themselves with adjectives. Frick Frack has a worldview. This is the difference.

No. 01

Metaphysical Recycling

Objects gain value through action, play, and the memory of a created moment — not through their monetary worth in the real world. We take in things that have lost meaning to others and, through our game, render them invaluable. A guest leaves with a $2 oddity that is now worth more to them than the watch they walked in wearing. That's the trick. That's the product.

No. 02

Arguing with Love

The heart of our game is debate, but a specific kind: arguing with sentiment detached, where both parties can go deep into the particulars of a trade because neither is wagering something they truly love. Most people argue from passion and won't back down. Our game teaches a way of arguing that produces synthesis instead of conflict.

No. 04

Moments Over Objects

We do not play to accumulate. The Frick we travel with is ammo for creating moments, not a private collection to be hoarded. This is both a value and an operational discipline — a dealer who cherry-picks the best items for themselves degrades the game for the next guest. Take your shoelaces. Spare your soul.

No. 05

Take Your Silliness Very Seriously

A serious project that happens to be silly — run by clowns and beloved by idiots — but built on years of love, work, sweat, and protected reputation. We endeavor to flip the script: the dark made light, the bad made good, casino gambling rebuilt as a source of beauty. It's the work of a lifetime. We treat it like one.

The Game

Bet anything but money.

When monetary worth is removed from the equation, value becomes a conversation. That conversation is the show.

Frick Frack Blackjack is a no-cash, no-limit, barter-style blackjack game in which you can bet anything in the world except money. The shoelaces in your shoes. The hat on your head. A joke. A dare. A favor. A feeling.

Each of our dealers — half carnival barker, half snake-oil salesman, all heart — brokers each wager by offering an item of equivalent value from the Frick Frack collection. Sometimes the equivalent makes sense. Sometimes it makes a story. The negotiation is the point.

By the time the cards are dealt, you're already in love with the installation. The blackjack is just the excuse.
